Mystery 3 Solved!!!
Thanks to Mr. Bob McBride
This was not so much a mystery as it was a test. And we got the correct answer from Mr. Bob McBride. Bob is a new viewer who found us while researching the CW-1. Bob shared with us in a couple of emails:
“One of your “mystery” photos shows Frank Piasecki piloting one of his helicopter designs. I think I remember reading somewhere that for this particular project, he purchased the fuselage of a wrecked Junior and built this chopper around that fuselage.
The Piasecki Helicopter is at the Udvar-Hazy Center at the National Air and Space Museum, on the grounds of Dulles International Airport.”
Here is what it looks like today in the Udvar Hazy Center at the National Air and Space Museum at the Dulles International Airport in Washington, DC.
